Lunchtime is back campaign tours the county
April 2nd, 2013We will be touring the county over the next few weeks, as part of a new road show which will raise awareness of our latest healthy eating campaign.
Our ‘Lunchtime is Back’ campaign is reminding local people of the health benefits of eating a balanced lunch. Our trained Community Health Coaches will be talking to local people about daily lunchtime routines and giving tips and advice on healthier options which also reduce the need to snack.
Our ‘Lunchtime is back’ roadshow takes place on the following dates/locations:
5th April - Sainsbury’s Supermarket, Sudbury
8th April - Willis Building, Ipswich
10th April - PPG Industries (UK), Stowmarket
23rd April - The Port of Felixstowe, Felixstowe
24th April - West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds
As part of the campaign, we have published a variety of free lunchtime recipe cards to inspire a healthier lunch. The cards not only feature tasty recipes but also provide top tips on how to boost your health at lunchtimes, whether it is simply going for a walk or making sure you keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Karen Davies, one of our trained dietitians said: “We know that when you’re having a busy day it can be easy to simply grab lunch on the go, but unfortunately this can often lead to poor food choices which may result in weight gain. It can be easy to make simple changes to make your lunch a healthier one, whether it is swapping a packet of crisps for some fruit or simply having a glass of water instead of a fizzy drink.”
She continued: “We are looking forward to speaking to shoppers at Sainsbury’s in Sudbury as it will give us the opportunity to speak to local people about how they can make small but realistic changes to establish a healthier lunchtime.”

A wide range of practical support including free ‘cook and eat’ sessions to learn about eating healthily on a low cost budget and personal health plans to help people make the change to a healthier lifestyle, are also available from our Community Health Coaches.
