Live Well Suffolk helps students to quit smoking
March 9th, 2016Students from Easton and Otley College were urged to take on the challenge of this year’s national No Smoking Day (Wednesday 9th March) and kick the habit for good.
With statistics revealing that two thirds of smokers want to quit, we spent No Smoking Day at the College’s Otley campus encouraging young people to think twice about the health impacts of their habit and offered them advice and stop smoking support.
We carried out carbon monoxide breath tests, giving students the opportunity to see how much of the poisonous gas was in their lungs. They were also able to take away a free self-help quit kit full of practical tips to help them stop smoking.
Steven Lee-Foster, Director at Live Well Suffolk, said: “We were very pleased to be able to support Easton and Otley College with their No Smoking Day activities this year – the event is a great way to get smokers thinking about their habit. We’re also pleased to be able to help encourage young people not to take up smoking and help those who are smokers to quit for good.”
Michael Orange from the student services team at Easton and Otley College added: “We were delighted to support National No Smoking Day at Easton and Otley College in conjunction with Live Well Suffolk and we spent the day handing out advice and guidance to students. In addition to support on the day, we take the health and wellbeing of our students very seriously and offer them advice on a variety of different health topics throughout the rest of the year.”
We also offer one-to-one stop smoking support with one of our trained advisors. For more information call 01473 229292.
